After doing lots of research, we have come to the conclusion that their really wasn't a set age for children to start their own families, like theirs a set age for teenagers to get their drivers permit. In Ancient Rome, the parents was the teachers and the children were the learners. The son's were being raised to take over for the father when the father died. Once the father has passed, the heirs(the son) is expected to take everything his father has taught him, and take over for the father. Once he is in charge, he is expected to get married and start his own family. The women are expected to produce a heir for the family. Then the father is expected to teach his son everything he is suppose to know about his father, and his father's business. Anything that the father can't teach, the father is suppose to get a tutor to teach his son. The same thing went for the women, except they were expected to marry and raise the daughter to cook, clean, and to manage a household. This may sound like the stereotype they have for women, but this what they were expected to do and did. As you can see, there was effort being put in by both the parents. So there was no single parent, divorced family, and things of that nature. Ancient Rome was known for this because they enforced many rules with their up bringing. And also because the men had to be very powerful.
